The Girl Behind the Camera + Computer

Hi, I'm Katie! I hate talking about myself, so I'm cringing as I write this. I am a 26 year old Massachusetts transplant living in Maine with my fiancé and our two sweet babies (...cats).

I have gone from desk job to desk job since college and just never felt fulfilled or truly passionate about the work I was doing. In 2015 I got my first real camera for Christmas and started capturing nature all. the. time. I started getting more serious about posting on Instagram daily and absolutely loved the community I built around myself with people who were friends, family or new internet friends that shared the same passions as me capturing and sharing the beautiful world around us.

I had never really considered taking "people photos" as I like to call them, but in 2018 I started with engagement photos for a college friend. Then I shot my first wedding that same year! I took a bit of a break to get back to my bird and nature photography, and at the start of the pandemic in 2020, I left my desk job wondering, "now what?"

I've always been drawn back to the community that social media created for me. I love how I can connect with people all over the world instantaneously. I started to think of how I could utilize my digital marketing degree and help small business owners truly thrive.

In April of 2020, I started working with my friend Rachel to build up her mom-boss wellness company, Velvet's Hammer and Co, and I fell in love with building her website to truly fit her brand, creating fun color palette and capturing product photos for her Etsy shop. Since then, I've taken on more clients and now I freelance full time in social media management and digital marketing.

Because I'm now living the freelance lifestyle, I can make my own schedule and work from pretty much anywhere, which has opened the door for me to explore capturing more portraits! That same college friend who trusted me enough to take her engagement photos asked me to take her wedding photos last fall! Since then, I've captured families, babies, gender reveals, couples and so much more with tons of love. With every photo session and client success story, I become more and more confident that this is what I'm meant to be doing.

Every day I wake up excited to see what new opportunities I can create for myself, spreading awareness for small businesses and capturing true happiness.
